Beside genuine Chip Tuning some vendors offers also a further variant of power increase. The additional box(tuningbox) is the second possibillity to improve the power of your car.
And this is the way a additional box(tuningbox) works:
By additional boxes the stock wiring harness will be "cut off" closed-by the fuel pump and this additional box will be plugged in. Through this intervention in the flow rate control will "across the board" the injected fuel quantity from the combustion chamber raised.
Disadvantage: By the simple electronic structuring of the Tuningbox, Powerbox or how ever you want call thems, it is not possible to adapt the turbo pressure and other important parameters.
Follow problems are thereby unavoidable: Very strong soot formation by not adapted turbo pressure. Strong elevated cylinder temperature, becuase the fuel is not being injected in the piston relief but uncontrolled against the cylinder wall. Here exists the biggest risk, the oil film can break or the piston burn out. Other disadvantage from the tuningbox are to find out the better adjustment for it. Eveery "layperson" got the posssibillity to do any adjustment that can goes considerably over the engine capacitance and ... respectively corrsponding components. Cold starting problems and bucking as well as strong soot are the consequence of "grubby" injection and manipulation of important input-, and output parameters (Wattertemp., Turbopressure signal, pump pressure, etc etc). Especially cars with automatic transmission systems becomes the major problem in the part-load and full-load. Thanks to this tuningbox are system failures and numerous errors in the ECU are no more infrequently. By moderns engines controllers is a non ending communication between the Engine controller and the Automatic controller, request about torque must/actual value will be registred as an error saved in the engine controller and ... respectively automatic controller. The tuningbox can not correct the torque and controls request!
